There is an appealing story to the Cambodia gambling halls that reside just across the dividing line from next door Thailand, where gambling den gaming is against the law. Eight casinos are anchored in a generally small space in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent location, a 3 to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular gambling centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The astonishing capital gained from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than 12.5 million, and there are a number of controls requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mostly Thai; still, funding sources are vague. The borders are ceremoniously open from 9:00 a.m. to 1700, and even though visas are for all intents and purposes needed to pass, there are methods and means around this, as is real of many border crossings.
The initial Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving only one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked barge casino, highlights one hundred and fifty slot machine games and sixty tables. The Naga gambling den never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of vingt-et-un, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The original gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly followed. A total of one hundred and fifty slots and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slot machine games and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and ninety six table games, including eighty seven baccarat (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slots and sixty six of the normal tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight casinos in Poipet, again a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-around vacation and hotel complex that highlights a number of conveniences on top of the casino, which offers 10,000 sq.ft. of 130 slot machine games and 88 gaming tables.
