Cambodia Gambling Dens
July 4th, 2019 by Tate

There is an interesting story to the Cambodia casinos that lie just over the border from nearby Thailand, where gambling den betting is not legal. Eight casinos are situated in a relatively tiny space in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent area, a 3 to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest gambling locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The phenomenal capital accrued from the gambling dens ranges from 7.5 million dollars to over 12.5 million, and there are a few limitations constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be mainly Thai; still, funding sources are ambiguous. The borders are officially open from 0900 to 5:00 p.m., and though visas are allegedly necessary to pass, there are ways around this, as is accurate of most borders.

The initial Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just a single gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary ship gambling den, features 150 slot machines and 60 gaming tables. The Naga gambling den is open all day and night with forty two tables of mini-baccarat banque, 4 tables of blackjack, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long opened. There are one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and five table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 one armed bandits and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and 96 table games, including 87 baccarat (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machines and sixty six of the normal tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the 8 casinos in Poipet, again a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-inclusive resort and hotel complex that highlights many amenities in addition to the casino, which houses ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 one armed bandits and eighty eight gaming tables.
